Bundi is rudyard kipling's land and the first destination in hadoti if one were
to travel by road from jaipur. A fairly small town, it is totally dominated by
its forts and palaces. The bundi palace presents one of the finest examples of
rajput architecture. Intricately carved brackets, pillars, balconies and the
most amazing frescoes give this palace a unique charm of its own. Bundi has
other palaces and hunting lodges like the phool sagar palace, sukh mahal, and
shikar bhurj. The step-wells of bundi are also well known & unique to rajasthan
and gujarat. These elaborate step-wells served as water reservoirs for the
summer months when there was a scarcity of water. Prominent among them is the
raniji ki baodi.
